I think we could ask this of the Russian skaters as well... Grass-roots development and a large pool for elite skaters to emerge from might be the answer. Training conditions & opportunities are much better & more prolific over here than in many countries. That's why so many world-class coaches from other nations now make their homes in Simsbury, CT, Colorado Springs, or Newark, Delaware. I'll be posting an article on this topic very soon. ;)
