The International Skating Union’s World Cup circuit begins this month and ends in February, 2007.

Elite short track speed skaters will strut their stuff during a series of races on the World Cup tour of competitions listed below.

October 20-22, 2006: Changchun, China

October 27-29, 2006: Jeonju City, Korea

December 1-3, 2006: Saguenay, Canada

December 8-10, 2006: Montreal, Canada

February 2-4, 2007: Heerenveen, Netherlands

February 9-11, 2007: Budapest, Hungary

Who are the skaters to watch this season? Koreans currently hold 12 out of the 16 official world records listed. They are still the powerhouse to beat. Multiple junior world-record holder, Chun-Sa Byun, is tearing it up in the senior ranks. She tends to be a distance skater and should shine in the 1000m and 1500m. Olympic gold medalist Wang Meng should continue to make China proud. Awesome Ahn will, no doubt, help to maintain Korea’s dominance. World champion Canadian Francois-Louis Tremblay shows no signs of dropping off the leader board.
