Michelle Kwan Recoups at College

Speculation over Michelle's retirement from the sport is tabled for at least a year. She's going to college full time.

As a student at the University of Denver, Michelle will concentrate on her studies and healing from the extensive surgery she underwent this summer.

She told the USFSA: "'I have taken a one-year-at-a-time approach to my figure skating plans,' Kwan said. 'Education is very important to me and this year I have decided to put college first. Next year at this time I will again evaluate all my options including returning to competitive skating.'"

Even though Michelle has been sitting out a lot of competitions and shows lately (after touring with Champions on Ice,) she's still not ready to call it quits before 2010.

Let me know if you think it's time for the queen of the ice to relinquish her throne to skaters who might be more deserving but less likely to win in her shadow. Should Michelle Kwan retire?
