Dedicated to “The Relentless Pursuit of Excellence,” Speed Skating Canada is the nation’s governing body for long and short track speed skating.

Most notably, Speed Skating Canada's High Performance (HP) Programs provide elite athletes with resources to assist them in their achievement at an international level.

Performance potential of talented skaters is honed at one of three HP National Training Centers in Calgary, Montreal, and Quebec City. The training and development of these elite skaters is aided by a variety of organizations with the intent of making Canada one of the most-winning countries represented on the international circuit. Various regional programs feed in to the national training centers and receive guidance and support from HPP.

The Long Term Athlete Development model is a common framework that organizations and facilities can follow to ensure they provide athletes with all "the technical, tactical, physical and mental skills and abilities skills necessary" to achieve at the highest possible level.

SSC website posts bulletins, announcement, records, committee meeting minutes, membership and club information. Biographies of coaches and athletes are available, as are press updates and risk management advice pages. The SSC calendar and results pages provide accurate standings, dates and results of competitions.
