June 1st is the deadline for applications to the International Skating Center of Connecticut's Summer of Gold 2006. Train with world class figure skaters and coaches from June 11th through August 12th.
The Summer School Gold Package costs $879 per week plus registration fees; multiple week and shortened week packages are also available. All on and off-ice classes can be purchased a la carte at the walk-on rates of $12-$15 per session. So even if your summer travels bring you to the area for just a couple of days, you can take advantage of the opportunity to study figure skating with and from the best in the sport.
Classes include Creative Movement, Group Technical Skills, Stroking, Edge Class, Spin Class, Skater's Ballet, Jazz, Jumps, Conditioning, Twister, and Stretch.
Professional staff includes such familiar names as: Nicolai Morosov & Shae-Lynn Bourne, Maya Usova, Vadim Naumov & Evgenia Shishkova, Katie Orscher & Garrett Lucash, and many others. Olympic Gold Medalists, such as Alexei Yagudin, are said to train at ISCC. Many of these famous skaters offer private coaching and charge up to $90 per hour.
Housing for Summer of Gold 2006 is available at the Westminster School, a nearby boarding school. Meals and transportation are included in the housing arrangements, and supervisory dorm parents are certified by the American Red Cross. One of the premier skating facilities in the world, the ISCC has two rinks that accommodate the needs of every level of skater. With 2,000 seats, the rink is performance and spectator-friendly.
